Stop Cribbing, Start Living.

“When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”- Most of us heard or read this quote either on the internet or heard sometime in our life. But have you ever thought- Forget about adversities, we even crib in our happiest moments too! We have stopped acknowledging whatever more or little we have in our lives and constantly cry over what we do not have.

I may sound philosophical or beyond logic, but I suggest an exercise to understand what I am trying to say. Tonight, before going to sleep, take a paper pen and write the things in your life that you consider are blessings and things that are troubling you.

It is all about how you think! Some people can find 100 positives in any situation, while on the other hand, one can find 100 negatives in the same situation. (Same old quote- Half filled or Half-empty)

The primary reason behind that we have developed a constant urge to ‘find faults’ in everything-be it our food, others’ outlook, or any situation of our life. We are forgetting the importance of overlooking the faults and enjoying our own moments. We always strive to compare our lives with others instead of comparing with it our own life.

Let me quote you an example from my life- I prepared for the Civil Service Examination, one of the toughest exams in India. People crave to be in services, so they work really hard to absorb every knowledge flowing across the globe and clear the exam. I prepared for almost three years and gave so many attempts but could not clear even a single attempt.

When people of my age excelled in their corporate life, I used to sit in a room and study for the maximum hours of my day. In, the end I exhausted and started my career in an all-new direction. Society started judging my potential and sympathizing with me. I will be lying if I say I was all okay because I was drained, underconfident, and full of skepticism. I used to compare my life, started thinking that my years got wasted and what not!

However, after around a year, I realized that nothing went in vain. That preparation helped me wherever I go and whatever I am doing. I started gaining confidence that I can talk to anyone on any topic and have the potential to do well with my life. I don’t want to boast, but I started accepting that it was okay not to get selected and thanking those tough times of preparation.

Those times taught me other life lessons like patience, consistency, and keep going in my life. From that time, I started thinking about every situation of my life, comparing less with others, and enjoying every moment.

Life is too short of cribbing or going in every minute detail just for bothering yourself at the end. Sometimes ignorance is bliss, so just take a deep breath and look around and inside yourself and start living every moment.
